Puan Maharani Wants Indonesia To Also Use Vaccines From Turkey

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani wants the Indonesian government to also use the COVID-19 vaccine made by the Turkish government, while the vaccine from China is being clinically tested.

Puan hopes that the cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey in the procurement of Covid-19 drugs and vaccines will soon be realized. He expressed this hope after talking to the chairman of the Turkish parliament (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) Mustafa Sento.

"I heard that the Indonesian Minister of Research and Technology and Technology had spoken with the Turkish Minister of Technology and Industry discussing the development of Covid 19 drugs and vaccines. Hopefully this collaboration will be successful and we will get the benefits (vaccines) in the not too distant future," said Puan in her statement, Tuesday. , August 8.

To Mustafa, Puan hopes that the Turkish parliament will also encourage this cooperation so that Covid-19 drugs and vaccines can be found and produced immediately.

Puan continued, the cooperation in the procurement of this vaccine is related to the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-Turkey diplomatic relations.

"We congratulate each other on Eid al-Adha and chat about the condition of Indonesia and Turkey, especially in the midst of the situation facing the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Sunday, August 2 at around 16.00 WIB at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java Province. At the beginning of his conversation, Jokowi congratulated Erdogan on Iduladha.

In the conversation, Jokowi welcomed the increased cooperation between the two countries, including the possibility of cooperation in handling COVID-19 such as procurement of vaccines.

Currently, Indonesia has also conducted the third stage clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccine is the result of collaboration between PT Bio Farma and a pharmaceutical company from China, Sinovac, which is currently in the stages of drafting a protocol.
