Former Acting Mayor Of Makassar Iqbal Suhaeb Called By Police Related To The COVID-19 Social Assistance Case

MAKASSAR - Former Acting Mayor of Makassar, Iqbal Suhaeb, is scheduled to undergo an investigation related to the alleged corruption case of the 2020 COVID-19 social assistance fund. Iqbal was summoned for questioning at the South Sulawesi Police.

"The plan tomorrow, Thursday (11/11) is to be examined," said the Head of Sub-Directorate III for Corruption of the South Sulawesi Police, Kompol Fadli, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 10.

The agenda for the summons for examination of Iqbal Suhaeb, he said, was still limited to a witness because at that time his position was still serving as the Acting Mayor of Makassar.

However, the development related to the alleged corruption case of the COVID-19 Bansos funds is still in the process of being audited by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) so that no conclusions can be drawn regarding the determination of the suspect.

"It's not there yet (the determination of the suspect). We'll see the progress later. It's still an audit. Auditing takes time and can be accounted for, this concerns the fate of people, "he continued.

Confirmed separately, the Acting Head of the Makassar Social Service, Muhyiddin confirmed that there was an audit from the BPK regarding the alleged misuse of the COVID-19 social assistance funds.

"Yes, this is being audited. While it is running, the BPK has dropped, that's the 2020 Bansos. This is a temporary audit now," he said separately.

The audit process and the examination of the witnesses, he said, had been going on for a week in two places, namely at the Makassar Social Service Office and the South Sulawesi Police Office.

"Sometimes at the office, sometimes also at the Regional Police. Two places are carried out immediately. Today, it's at the Regional Police. Regarding the COVID-19 Social Assistance, in 2020 yesterday. It's been one week, if I'm not mistaken, the audit has started," he explained.

"Everyone involved in it is invited (to be examined). Called, including the Acting Mayor during the 2020 Social Assistance Organization, it's still Mr. Iqbal Suhaeb. The social assistance incident was during 'lockdown'. It was temporarily audited by the BPK," added Muhyiddin.
