Aceh Police Arrest Suspected Perpetrator Of Police Post Shooting, Motive Revealed About Police Hurt In Illegal Mining
BANDA ACEH - A joint team from the Aceh Regional Police and the West Aceh Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a police post in Panton Reu, West Aceh Regency, and is hunting for six other people.
The Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, said that the suspected perpetrator who was arrested had the initials JH.
"When questioned, JH admitted that he was involved in the shooting of a police post in West Aceh. In the shooting, JH acted as a monitor and operator of HT's communications," said Winardy, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 9.
Based on the investigations that have been carried out, he said, the motive for the shooting was because they were offended by the police officers who often crack down on illegal mining in the area.
During the examination, it was also revealed that the weapons used in the shooting were AK-56 and M16 types. However, currently only two HT units and one motorcycle have been confiscated.
"Currently JH is being investigated for a marathon and is being investigated again to find out the origin of the weapon," he said.
Regarding the other six suspected perpetrators who are still being sought, he appealed to them to surrender themselves immediately. Moreover, their names have been pocketed.
"What is certain is that their names have been pocketed by officers and are currently being hunted. The police will not hesitate to take decisive and measured action if there is a resistance when they are going to be arrested," he said.
Previously, the Aceh Police had arrested five people related to the shooting of the Panton Reu Police Station, West Aceh Police. However, four people have been released because they were not involved in the shooting.
The police detained a person with the initials DP and was charged with the Emergency Law because he was found to have stored three 5.56 mm caliber active bullets. However, DP was not involved in the shooting after investigators explored the alibi in question.
"And because there is a guarantee from the family, the keuchik or the village head, and a lawyer, the detention of DP is currently suspended. The person concerned during the examination is also very cooperative," he said.
