As Runner-up For Hylo Open 2021, Leo/Daniel Go Up Seven Strips In BWF Ranking
JAKARTA - The ranking of Indonesian men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin skyrocketed after they finished runners-up in the badminton tournament Super 500 Hylo Open 2021, last weekend.
Launching Antara, based on the update of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings as of November 9, the ranking of Leo/Daniel, who are the men's doubles players, is now 28th in the world, up seven strips from last week's position.
Apart from Leo/Daniel, the other two men's doubles, namely Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan are also included in the top 35 of the BWF rankings.
Pramudya/Yeremia rose six places to 35th in the world after qualifying for the Hylo Open 2021 semifinals and winning the 2021 Belgian International tournament last October. Meanwhile, Bagas/Fikri, who stopped in the round of 16 at the Hylo Open 2021, placed 32nd. The rankings achieved by the men's doubles players are the best in their careers.
Meanwhile, the 2021 Hylo Open champions Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo further confirmed their status as the world's number one men's doubles.
Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto stayed in second and seventh place in the world.
Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Ribka Sugiarto also experienced an increase in the ranking of women's doubles. Their move to the 2021 Hylo Open semifinals took them six strips up to 26th in the BWF's latest ranking list.
There is also the Praveen/Melati mixed doubles that remains in fifth place in the world after being runner-up at the Hylo Open 2021.
After undergoing the European tournament, the world's elite badminton players will then take part in the Indonesia Badminton Festival in Nusa Dua, Bali in November-December.
There are three consecutive tournaments being held, starting with the Indonesia Masters 2021 on November 16-21, followed by the Indonesia Open 2021 on November 23-28.
The eight best players or pairs will continue the fight at the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals, 1-5 December.
