Clubhouse Creates Replay Feature That Allows Users To Listen To Replays

JAKARTA - The latest Clubhouse platform update introduces a feature that users have been asking for from the start, namely the ability to record conversations so that those who missed a live session can listen comfortably.

Ever since Clubhouse announced that the feature is in development, users have been waiting for it to go live. Late last month, Clubhouse also added a neat tool called Pinned Links that lets room builders add relevant links to the top of the conversation page.

Spaces Twitter already allows admins to record live audio chat rooms for users on iOS, with the ability to listen to recorded sessions available on Android and iOS.

Despite the much wider reach and development resources given to Spaces thanks to its Twitter origins, Clubhouse is now finally catching up to one of its main rivals, and in a more perfect way.

Called Replays, the new Clubhouse feature available on Android and iOS is basically the ability for room makers to flick a switch and record live conversations. This ensures that others can listen to it whenever they find the time.

However, there are several other capabilities that make Replay a great addition to the platform. For example, Replay is optional and can be enabled for any public space.

The recording will also save every aspect of the live conversation, even tapping the microphone. Another cool feature is the interactive links. Embedded Links posted during a live session remain interactive during Replay as well, meaning listeners won't miss out on relevant contextual information being shared in real time.

Clubhouse has also handled the discovery section quite well. Replays can be downloaded as shareable clips which can then be posted on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Stories, as webpage embeds, and elsewhere.

More importantly, they will appear on speaker profiles and Club pages, meaning users can always visit the pages they subscribe to or people they follow and check if they missed their live audio session. Clubhouse says Replay will also start showing up in searches starting next week.

Another neat aspect is that Replay will have a skip button. However, instead of clearing the audio timeline with a fixed duration of 10 or 30 seconds, tapping skip switches to the next speaker.

The ability to jump straight to the next speaker is great, especially if the user doesn't have much time to listen to the entire Replay and is only interested in hearing from a specific speaker in the room. Arguably, this makes Replay better than live conversations as it will save you a lot of valuable time.

Finally, Replay is also equipped with the Total Participant feature. As the name suggests, the creator of the room will be able to see how many people are listening and are listening to the recording after the live room ends. For additional bragging rights, the creator of the Clubhouse room may also share this number of attendees with others.
