Occupying 97th Position In Handling COVID-19, Indonesia Is Not Safe For Investors And Foreign Tourists

JAKARTA - Indonesia is in the 97th position out of 100 countries in the world in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. This ranking shows that Indonesia is considered unsafe from the SAR-CoV-2 virus outbreak. Therefore, it is very difficult for investors to choose Indonesia, let alone get visits from foreign tourists.

Chairman of the Movement to Wear Masks (GPM) Sigit Pranomo said the image of Indonesia which is considered to have failed in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic can be improved. One of the ways is the success in handling the pandemic through the Wear Mask Movement.

Sigit said that Indonesia was only ahead of three countries such as Laos, Cambodia and the Bahamas regarding the handling of COVID-19. Meanwhile, the 10 best countries in handling COVID-19 are Switzerland, Israel, Singapore, Japan, Germany, Asutria, Australia, China, New Zealand and South Korea. In fact, the world already knows that the country is very neat in handling this virus.

According to Sigit, this 97th ranking certainly makes investors not want to choose Indonesia as an investment destination country and will choose other countries that are safer. Likewise, the number of tourists who will visit Indonesia.

"Investors will definitely choose a safer country. Likewise, don't expect tourists to visit Indonesia. Our country is not safe from COVID-19. So we need to improve our bad image through the Wear Mask Movement so that our country can become the main destination. to invest and be visited by foreign tourists, "he said, in a virtual discussion, Monday, August 3.

The Wear Mask Movement, said Sigit, is easier to implement, because it puts society as the subject. Meanwhile, the imposition of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) becomes the object of society.

According to Agus, wearing a mask can reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19 by up to 75 percent. In fact, at the time of the Spanish flu in 1918 where the victims reached more than 50 million people, using masks was a solution at that time and has been proven.

He also said that in the case of the Spanish flu the number of cases increased in the second wave. Because of that, now is a very dangerous situation for all human beings in the world. Because, when the Indonesian government missed the second wave, the victims would be as big as during the Spanish flu.

Not only that, according to Sigit, due to being in the 97th place, pilgrims in Indonesia have not been able to enter Saudi Arabia to worship. Therefore, he emphasized, Indonesia's image must be repaired immediately.

"Now we also know that because Indonesia's position is in 97, Indonesian Haj pilgrims have not been able to enter Saudi Arabia because our level is still in position 97 and this will be waiting longer if we cannot change and improve it by applying discipline to use. masks so that our image is better, "he said.
