17 Heavy Equipment Dredgers Deployed To Dredge Lamong Gresik River Which Had Overflowed Causing Flooding
GRESIK - The Government of Gresik Regency, East Java deployed 17 heavy equipment in the form of excavators or dumbbells to dredge the Kali Lamong River, so that flooding due to overflowing rivers does not spread.
Acting Head of the Gresik Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUTR), Endoong Wahyukuncoro said the heavy equipment was deployed and placed along Lamong River, with the aim of lifting river sedimentation.
"We are dredging because the flood conditions have subsided, this makes the dredging even more intense at several points, starting from Balongpanggang District to Cerme District," said Endoong, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 8.
He explained that the 17 heavy equipment were divided into several points, including eight at the zero point from the Bulangkulon Bridge to Balongpanggang, all of which were carried out by partners with a contract value of Rp. 1.1 billion.
However, some of it is done self-managed, namely at the zero point of the Bulangkulon Bridge towards Benjeng by deploying four heavy equipment belonging to the Gresik DPUTR.
"The newly imported 2 long-up and 1 small heavy equipment were placed in Wotansari Balongpanggang for 1 long-up, then in Morowudi 2 new bego, 1 long-up heavy equipment and 1 small excavator. Two of these were borrowed from Surabaya by placing in Morowudi," he said.
Previously, the flood that hit Gresik Regency due to the overflow of Lamong River spread to four sub-districts, from initially only three sub-districts each Benjeng, Balongpanggang, Kedamean, now to Cerme District.
Camat Cerme Suyono said that there were three villages that were affected by the overflowing flood of Kali Lamong, namely Dadapkuning, Sukoanyar, and Ngembung.
"The flood shifted from Balongpanggang and Benjeng to Cerme, and there were three villages affected by the overflowing flood of Kali Lamong," said Suyono, who had served as Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Gresik Regency Government.
Suyono admitted that he had also deployed three heavy equipment to dredge the Lamong River in the Cerme Sub-district, and placed them in Morowudi Village, Cerme District.
"The three excavators or heavy equipment are two from the Gresik Regency Government and one assistance from Surabaya, the aim is to normalize the Lamong River, the large river on the Morowudi Bridge, in order to facilitate the flow of water from Balongpanggang and Benjeng," he said.
