MUI Holds Ijtima Ulama Fatwa Commission Discusses Khilafah To Pinjol

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will hold the VII Ijtima Ulama Fatwa Commission throughout Indonesia on Tuesday to Thursday at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, with a number of national and ummah discussion agendas ranging from caliphate to online loans (Pinjol).

"In this forum, strategic national issues will be discussed, including dhawabith and criteria for blasphemy, jihad and caliphate within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, more beneficial general election guidelines, distribution of land for equity and benefit, and tax issues," said MUI Head of Fatwa Asrorun Niam. Sholeh was quoted by Antara, Monday, November 8.

The implementation of ijtima ulama this time is different from the previous ones. The culture of ijtima ulama has always been carried out in Islamic boarding schools. Finally, the VI Ijtima Ulama took place in 2018 at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School, Banjarbaru, Banjarmasin, Central Kalimantan.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ijtima was decided to be held at the hotel so that the management of implementing the health protocols runs optimally.

Asrorun, who is also the head of the organizer, explained that the ijtima of ulama fatwa commissions throughout Indonesia would be officially opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, and be attended by 700 fatwa scholars throughout Indonesia.

The event was carried out in a hybrid manner, a combination of 250 participants offline at the Sultan Jakarta hotel and the rest online.

According to him, the ijtima entitled "Optimizing Fatwa for the Benefit of the Nation" will also discuss contemporary fiqh such as online marriage, Cryptocurrency, to zakat shares.

"Other issues discussed are contemporary fiqh issues such as online marriage, cryptocurrency, online loans, uterus transplantation, corporate zakat, distribution of zakat funds in the form of qardh hasan, and stock zakat," he said.

For legal and statutory issues, ijtima will discuss the review of the Alcoholic Drinks Bill, the review of the RKUHP related to adultery, and a review of the regulations for managing halal certification.
