Deputy Governor Of DKI Claims Infiltration Wells Make Floods Retreat Fast In Jakarta
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that the presence of infiltration wells accelerates the flood receding so that the water can dry up in less than six hours.
"Including the construction of infiltration wells, it is very helpful. So even though the rain is quite heavy and quite extreme, the inundation can quickly recede," said Riza Patria at Jakarta City Hall, Monday, November 8.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, he continued, has budgeted Rp. 400 billion for the construction of infiltration wells which are budgeted from the 2021 APBD.
Previously, the infiltration well was planned to build a total of 300 thousand units with well construction starting from 2020 to 2022, with a target of 60 infiltration wells per one neighborhood unit (RT).
Riza added that in addition to infiltration wells, the receding flood was also encouraged by the preparedness of officers and officials in the field, including desludging efforts using mobile pumps, and static pumps, backfilling and drench.
"We will continue this program to increase the capacity of water holding capacity, increase the number of pumps, static and mobile and also increase infiltration wells including vertical drainage and make troughs at points that have the potential to cause inundation if the rain exceeds capacity," he said.
On the other hand, he also asked the public to remain vigilant and protect the environment by not littering.
"Other efforts have been prepared, including evacuation, logistics, starting from rubber boats to the needs of babies," he said.
