Status Of Secretary General Yunus Nusi Becomes Polemic, Kemenpora Just Oversees

JAKARTA - Yunus Nusi's status as Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has become a polemic. This is considered to violate the statute because Yunus is also a member of the PSSI Executive Committee.

In article 61 paragraph 4 of the PSSI Statute the Secretary General of PSSI may not be a Congress Delegation and become a member of a PSSI Board. Meanwhile, Yunus is the Chairperson of the East Kalimantan PSSI Asprov and a member of the Exco PSSI.

Interestingly, PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan said he wanted to defend Yunus Nusi until next year. The ketum already feels that he is compatible with Yunus as secretary general. This clearly drew criticism from a number of parties, including some observers who considered PSSI to act at will.

Responding to this polemic, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) did not want to interfere. Kemenpora will only monitor the situation. Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gatot S Dewabroto, said this was an internal affair of PSSI.

"Let them handle their own internal affairs," said Gatot to VOI, Monday, August 3.

Previously, PSSI denied violating the statute regarding Yunus Nusi's status. This has happened in 2017. At that time, Deputy Ketum PSSI Joko Driyono also served as Acting Secretary General for four months before being definitively elected.

PSSI also claims, FIFA and AFC have provided support and do not question this. Correspondence with FIFA and AFC also went directly to the Acting Secretary General of PSSI. PSSI Head of Media, Eko Rahmawanto said, Yunus would resign from the Exco PSSI member if he was appointed definitively as PSSI Secretary General.

"Currently the Acting Secretary General also continues to communicate well with FIFA and the AFC," he explained.
