Youtuber Prank Of Trash Filled Qurbani Meat Can Be Criminalized
JAKARTA - The action of Youtuber from Palembang, Edo Putra, is considered to be charged with a criminal offense, even though the video content of the qurbani meat package containing trash that was made has been arranged or set beforehand.
Al-Azhar University criminal law observer Suparji Ahmad said, in this act, no one was harmed. However, investigators could have caught Edo by spreading fake news that caused confusion.
"It could be subject to Article 14 or 15 of Law number 1 of 1946," said Suparji to VOI, Monday, August 3.
However, he said, this was done after investigators conducted an examination of the perpetrators. "Of course the investigators will clarify the matter of truth. Only later will it be decided regarding the speech," said Suparji.
According to him, the application of the crime was carried out to provide a deterrent effect on the perpetrators. It also aims to prevent similar cases from happening again in the future.
"The act is very inappropriate to do," he said.
Previously, the Palembang Police had arrested Edo Putra and his colleagues for the Youtube video content.
However, based on family information, the video does not intend to deceive other people. This is because the woman who became the victim was Edo's biological mother.
In addition, in the making of the video which took place in the Griya Asri complex area, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, it had actually been arranged in such a way as to make it appear as if it was the real thing.
Prank videos of qurbani meat filled with trash were uploaded to the Edo Putra Official YouTube account. The video, entitled "Prank for the distribution of meat to mothers with the contents of #therealprank waste" has been watched more than 650 thousand times.
Previously, the Bandung YouTuber, Ferdian Paleka, did a prank for helping with the contents of trash. After being detained, Ferdian Paleka was released because the victim's report to the police was withdrawn.
