Ministry Of Agriculture Records Royalties From Agricultural Innovations Reaches IDR 4.6 Billion
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agriculture through the Agricultural Research and Development Agency (Balitbangtan) recorded royalties of Rp. 4.6 billion obtained from 36 private companies for the use of superior agricultural innovations and technologies such as seeds, as well as agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan).
Based on data from the Ministry of Agriculture quoted in Jakarta, Sunday, the royalties came from licensing partners of 12 companies that used Agritan's HJ 21 hybrid corn amounting to Rp1.3 billion.
There is also the use of hybrid corn JH 37 in two companies for Rp. 832 million, the use of hybrid corn 29 used by nine companies for Rp. 761 million, and rice transplanter jajar legowo for Rp. 591 million used in four companies.
In addition, there is also JH 27 hybrid corn used by one company for Rp262 million. Corn Bima 9 URI amounted to IDR 178 million, the use of ecalyptus amounted to IDR 160 million, corn bima 20 URI IDR 125 million, hybrid corn Batara 14 amounted to IDR 97 million and others from 17 companies amounted to IDR 306 million.
Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo said that the royalties were obtained from the findings of the researchers and engineers of Balitbangtan during 2021. Furthermore, the Minister of Agriculture will hand over royalties to the institutions and inventors of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"This is something to be proud of, because we have produced many technologies that have intellectual property values that have been adopted by the business world," said Minister of Agriculture Syahrul when opening the 2021 Agro Innovation Fair at the Agricultural Technology Transfer Management Center (BPATP) Bogor, West Java.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, currently there are 33 research results from Balitbangtan that will be registered for patents, copyrights, trademarks or plant variety rights (PVP rights). Therefore, said the Minister of Agriculture, the role of Balitbangtan is very important, especially in agricultural development.
"If there is no R&D, how are we going to eat. Those are good seeds, but if two or three years there is no recovery, the yield will decrease. In the future I hope that this will not only be a license, but must be elaborated and developed more massively," he said.
Head of Balitbangtan, Fadjry Djufry added that in total, Balitbangtan has registered as many as 881 IPR technologies, and 580 of them have received certificates and are ready to operate.
"For 2021, 26 license agreements have been signed, and the total collaboration between Balitbangtan and the business world has been recorded at 377 licenses." he said.
For information, holding AIF is an effort of the Ministry of Agriculture in accelerating the dissemination of the findings of Balitbangtan to the public, especially the business world. Furthermore, the series of events included the Balitbangtan technology expo, technical guidance, business meetings, SME product bazaars (especially local food), and the signing of licensing agreements with several industrial partners.
