Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Approves General Andika Perkasa To Be Commander Of The Indonesian Armed Forces
JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission I, Meutya Hafid, said that the House of Representatives Commission I approved Andika Perkasa to become the TNI Commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who will retire in November 2021.
As is known, Andika Perkasa underwent a fit and proper test (FPT) as a candidate for TNI commander which was held today at the DPR Building.
"Giving approval for the appointment of the candidate for TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa as TNI Commander," he said, at the DPR Building, Senayan, Saturday, November 6.
Meutya said that the DPR Commission I's approval of Andika Perkasa became TNI Commander because he had held an internal meeting.
"The DPR's Commission I has held an internal meeting related to the change of approval in accordance with the President's Letter (Supres) to the chairman of the DPR," he said.
The next process, said Meutya, is for the DPR to hold a plenary meeting on Monday, November 8, to approve Andika Perkasa's appointment as TNI Commander, before being sworn in by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"Thus, Commission I will then be brought to the closest plenary meeting, God willing, the future commander-in-chief to be included in the plenary meeting," he said.
Responding to the decision of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Andika Perkasa only said thank you to the members of the council who had made him the number one person in the TNI.
"Thank you for the support," said Andika.
For your information, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has just appointed Army Chief of Staff General Andija Perkasa as the TNI's top candidate to replace the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto who will retire on November 21, 2021. Andika is the sole candidate in the nomination as the supreme leader of the TNI.
Andika's name was proposed by Jokowi to the DPR on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 to undergo a fit and proper test.
If later officially elected as the number one person in the TNI, Andika will only be the commander for approximately one year. The reason is, Andika will enter retirement on December 21, 2022.
