Bobby Nasution Wants To Relocate Residents From Medan River Banks, BTN Ready To Build Houses With Cheap Installments

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution received support from the State Savings Bank (BTN) for the relocation of residents from riverbanks. This bank is willing to support the construction of housing for the relocated residents with low installments.

This was revealed in a meeting between Bobby Nasution and the Deputy President Director of BTN, Nixon LP Napitupulu, Friday, November 5.

Present at the meeting were DRM Support for the regional office of BTN Waraneisena P. Wowor, Branch Manager of BTN Medan Carly Tambunan, Branch Manager of BTN Syariah Medan Triyantoro, Chairman of REI Sumut Moko Panggabean, and Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency, Zulkarnain Lubis.

During the meeting, Bobby Nasution revealed that one of the problems in dealing with floods is relocating residents who have been living on the riverbanks. This relocation, according to the mayor of Medan, requires a suitable replacement house for residents. In this regard, Bobby Nasution hopes that BTN can support this plan so that the relocated residents can get a decent house with cheap installments.

"We want rusunami, not rusunawa," said Bobby Nasution, quoted from a written statement from the Medan City Government Kominfo Service.

For development land, said Bobby Nasution, the government may be able to pursue development and development by developers.

Bobby Nasution continued, there are a number of benefits if this program is realized, namely flood management, provision of livable houses for the community, and economic movement.

Deputy Director of BTN, Nixon LP Napitupulu welcomed this plan. He said his party was ready to collaborate with the Medan City Government. Moreover, he continued, BTN is indeed concerned in financing property development.

"We have a lot of projects like this. The interest we give is also small and with zero down payment," he said.

This light installment, continued Nixon, is possible if the local government and the central government can assist in the procurement of land, public facilities and social services.

"To be sure, we are ready to collaborate to realize this plan," said Nixon.
