416 Million More Injections Indonesia Reach Vaccination Target

JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for COVID-19 Reisa Broto Asmoro said the COVID-19 vaccination program in Indonesia still leaves around 416 million injections to reach the target.

"There is still a long way to go to achieve 100 percent. To vaccinate 208,265,720 people who fall into the target category for COVID-19 vaccination, at least 416 million injections are needed," said Reisa Broto Asmoro, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 5.

Reisa said the remaining vaccine injections were also calculated based on a single dose of Janssen vaccine and booster injections for health workers.

Reisa said Indonesia succeeded in injecting more than 200 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the Indonesian people exactly 297 days after the first vaccine injection in Indonesia was given to President Joko Widodo on January 13, 2021.

This achievement places Indonesia as one of the five countries in the world with the highest number of injections along with India, the United States, Brazil and Japan.

"As Chair of the G20, we are contributing to the achievement of the world's vaccinating nearly half of its population with a minimum of one dose, or the equivalent of injecting 7 billion doses to all citizens of the planet Earth," he said.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, said Reisa, the vaccination program has reached around 40 percent for the complete dose category, and 60 percent for the first dose.

"WHO's determination is to vaccinate at least one dose, at least 40 percent of people in every country in the world by the end of this year and 70 percent by next year," he said.
