53 Alcohol Sellers In South Jakarta Undergo Trial, Total Fines Reach Rp19 Million

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court (PN) held a trial for a minor crime (tipiring) selling liquor (alcohol). A total of 53 people were put on trial because they were arrested when officers conducted a raid in South Jakarta.

"A total of 53 perpetrators according to their ID cards that were confiscated from 10 sub-districts in the South Jakarta Administrative City Region have been held for trial," said Head of PPNS and South Jakarta Satpol PP Enforcement Section Daniel Hutajulu to reporters, Friday, November 5.

Daniel explained that of the 53 alcohol sellers, only 33 were present at the trial. Meanwhile, 20 other people were not present because the panel of judges had made a verstek decision.

"The total results of controlling alcohol totaled 2,265 bottles of various brands and a trial was carried out on the perpetrators of selling alcohol without a permit at the South Jakarta District Court on Friday (November 5) this afternoon," explained Daniel.

Head of South Jakarta City Police Headquarters, Ujang Harmawan, explained that all of the perpetrators of selling alcohol who underwent a trial and that the alcohol bottles confiscated by officers were the result of prosecution from October 22-29 2021.

"All of the liquor will be destroyed in mid-December 2021 in the Monas area along with other products from the Jakarta area," he explained.

The total fine amounted to more than Rp. 19 million, with details of Rp. 10 million for more than 33 violators who were present at the trial and Rp. 8 million for more than 20 violators who did not attend the verstek verdict.
