After 129 Days, Crossroads At Elelim Yalimo Opens
YALIMO - The crossroads at the welcome fork in the Elelim district, Yalimo district have been successfully opened. This is thanks to the dialogue carried out by the TNI-Polri and the local government with the residents.
The roadblock in Elelim District has lasted for 129 days, since June 29, 2021. This has made the prices of basic materials and building materials soar in eight districts of the Central Mountains such as in Yahukimo, Nduga, Jayawijaya, Mamberamo Tengah, Lanny Jaya, Tolikara, Puncak and Puncak Jaya.
The opening of the roadblock begins with PJ negotiations. Yalimo Regent, Dandim 1702/JWY with Elelim community leaders. At 18.15 WIT, the bar was successfully opened using one excavator unit.
Pj. The Regent of Yalimo Regency, Ribka Haluk, expressed his gratitude to the TNI-Polri and all those who have helped, so that this road blocking can be carried out.
"We all hope that with the completion of the repair of the Sahayu bridge at KM 97 and the roadblock that has been opened, it can restore the wheels of the community's economy, both in Elelim and all regencies in the Central Mountains," he said in an official statement received by VOI, Friday, November 5 .
Meanwhile, Dandim 1702/JWY Lt. Col. Inf. Arif B. Situmeang, said that the opening of the bars went smoothly and safely without any resistance.
“Most of the Elelim people are fed up with this unfortunate situation. It seems that the community is very anti-social to witness the opening of the bars and encourages excavator operators to open faster," he said. "Thank you for the understanding and cooperation of the community. Political differences are common. Let's not make that difference an excuse to disturb public facilities. Let's re-knit togetherness and brotherhood in peace ahead of the Christmas season which is just around the corner," added the Dandim.
After the bar was opened, as many as 257 vehicles along with 917 vehicle crews and passengers had moved to Wamena and other districts in the Central Mountains.
