Vice President Ma'ruf Calls Peparnas Papua Not Just A Competition, But Evidence Of The Spirit Of Equality
JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin said the XVI Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) was not just a competition but a proof for the spirit of equality among Indonesian citizens.
"Peparnas is not just a sports competition, but more than that. This is proof of the spirit of equality and equality for all of us," said the Vice President when opening the National Tournament at the Mandala Stadium, Jayapura, Papua, Friday.
The Vice President also said that Peparnas XVI is a very special event because it can break the boundaries of the athletes and come out as winners.
"Let's celebrate this equality in the spirit of brotherhood among the nation's children, in accordance with the motto "Heart Achieves Goals, Creates Achievements," said the Vice President.
The implementation of Peparnas XVI is also the Government's commitment to realizing equality for all Indonesian people, especially for groups with disabilities.“This is proof of the Government's commitment to provide equal treatment for every citizen," he said.
The Vice President also appreciated the ranks of the Papuan Provincial Government who had worked hard to organize the XVI Peparnas with various challenges to provide supporting facilities and infrastructure according to the standards of the Paralympic Games.
"Although there are many challenges, with hard work and support from all Papuan people, whom I love, dear Papuan people, have succeeded in preparing the venue for the matches and supporting facilities in accordance with the standards of the National Paralympic Week matches," said the Vice President.
Vice President Ma'ruf accompanied by Wury Estu Handayani arrived at the Mandala Stadium at 17.00 WIB or 19.00 WIT, wearing a blue sports jacket and wearing a typical Papuan headdress.
In addition to the opening of Peparnas XVI, the Vice President also visited the MacArthur Monument Site, which is inside the TNI headquarters of the XVII Cenderawasih Papua Military Command (Rindam) Main Regiment, on Saturday (6/11).
