281 Names Engraved On The COVID-19 Hero Struggle Monument In Bandung
BANDUNG - A total of 281 names of medical personnel, state civil servants, and volunteers who died while carrying out their duties to combat the transmission of the corona virus are engraved on the COVID-19 Hero Struggle Monument in Bandung City, West Java.
The monument is located in the West Java People's Struggle Monument complex in Bandung or Monju across from Gasibu Field, precisely at the entrance which has been revitalized by the West Java Housing and Settlement Service.
"There are 281 names recorded on this viewing wall gate. They are all West Javanese. They are medical personnel, volunteers, and ASN who fought for the interests of the people of West Java and died fighting COVID-19," said the Head of the West Java Housing and Settlement Service. Boy Iman Nugraha in Bandung City quoted by Antara, Friday, November 5th.
He said the idea to build the COVID-19 Heroes Struggle Monument was sparked during the construction of the welcome plaza at the West Java People's Struggle Monument complex.
"We built the Welcome Plaza which is in the People's Struggle Monument area. Now in the middle of the trip, as an appreciation of dedication to people who have sacrificed to serve the community in handling COVID-19, which consists of health workers, volunteers, and ASN, this idea was born," he said.
He explained that the inclusion of the names of 281 West Java residents at the COVID-19 Struggle Monument was intended, among other things, as a reminder to the public regarding the COVID-19 pandemic which claimed many lives and affected various aspects of life.
"So this is a reminder to all of us that dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic is not easy, not cheap, and requires hard work together," he said.
"So there are two essences, one is a form of appreciation for their dedication and the second essence is a place for reflection," Boy added.
The revitalization of the West Java People's Struggle Monument area, which has been planned since 2014 together with the revitalization of Gasibu, includes the construction of the Welcome Plaza gate, the Griya Kriya promotion room, and the festival hall and monument repairs.
According to him, the West Java Settlement and Housing Service has the task of revitalizing the West Java People's Struggle Monument area in 2020.
