Internal Meeting, Commission I DPR Cannot Hold Fit And Proper Test For Candidate For TNI Commander General Andika

JAKARTA - Commission I of the House of Representatives will hold an internal meeting to discuss the timing of the fit and proper test for the candidate for TNI commander General Andika Perkasa this afternoon, Thursday, November 4, at 14.00 WIB. Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission I, Meutya Hafid, welcomed President Joko Widodo's letter that proposed General Andika Perkasa as a candidate for TNI Commander. According to him, General Andika has good professionalism and integrity to lead the TNI.

However, Meutya implies that General Andika's fit and proper test will not be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Because Commission I will hold an internal meeting first at 14.00 WIB.

"An internal meeting attended by all members of Commission One will decide when the fit and proper test will be held," said Meutya in a written statement, Wednesday, November 3.

The Golkar politician stated that Commission I of the DPR needs time to verify the documents for the candidate for the TNI commander as well as the possibility of actual verification as part of the fit and proper test process.

"The spirit of Commission I is certainly the sooner the better by paying attention to all the stages that need to be passed in full," he said. Meutya said, as of 18.00 WIB last night, Commission I had not received an assignment letter from the DPR Deliberative Body to immediately follow up on the process of replacing the TNI Commander. "So we are still waiting," said Meutya. Previously, DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said that the fit and proper test for the candidate for the TNI commander would begin today or tomorrow. "Once the Surpres is received, the DPR Bamus will immediately hold a meeting and schedule a fit and proper test for the TNI Commander candidate tomorrow, Thursday to Friday," said Puan at the DPR Building, Wednesday, November 3.
