Guess The Replacement For General Andika Perkasa In The Chair Of The Army Chief Of Staff, Who Is He?
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has chosen Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa as a candidate for TNI commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.
The appointment was in accordance with the presidential letter (Surpres) regarding the TNI Commander, which was delivered by the Minister of State Secretary, Pratikno, to the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. Puan then announced that the President proposed only one candidate for approval.
"KSAD General Andika Perkasa," said DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, Wednesday, November 3.
After receiving the letter, Puan said, the DPR will immediately follow up on the Surpres of the TNI Commander, which will then carry out a fit and proper test at Commission I of the DPR.
Member of Commission I of the PPP Faction, Syaifullah Tamliha, assessed that President Jokowi's decision was correct by choosing General Andika Perkasa as the candidate for TNI Commander. Because according to him, Andika is the most senior compared to other chiefs of staff.
"The decision to nominate General Andika Perkasa is a very wise policy, because it is impossible for a navy who is younger than Pak Andika to then occupy the position of TNI commander," Tamliha told reporters, Wednesday, November 3.
Nevertheless, Tamliha predicts that the position of TNI Commander will be transferred to KSAL Admiral Yudo Margono. The reason is that Andika Perkasa's term of office will expire in the next 13 months. "General Andika is already familiar with Commission I, I think the president will give this position to Mr. Andika until he retires in 2022, and Mr. Yudo will also have the opportunity to become TNI commander, after Mr. Andika retires," he said. The position of TNI Commander, Tamliha also believes that the position of KSAD will be filled by Lejten Dudung Abdurachman, who is now Pangkostrad. "Of course the position of KSAD will be vacant.
Who sits as Army Chief of Staff?
The chairman of the Independent Community Justice Coalition Foundation, Ferdinand Hutahaean, also commented on the vacancy of the Army Chief of Staff position after Andika left.
Ferdinand admitted to hearing whispers about the KSAD candidate. He said it was possible that the Chief of the General Staff of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Kasum TNI) Eko Margiyono would replace General Andika. Eko himself was once a bodyguard for the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). "I heard that the Army Chief of Staff would be appointed by the Chief of the TNI, but I don't know the truth about this," said Ferdinand Hutahaean, Wednesday, November 3.
He also congratulated General TNI Andika Perkasa who was chosen by President Jokowi as a candidate for TNI Commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who was about to retire. "Congratulations to General Andika for being appointed as a candidate for the Commander of the TNI. Hopefully, he can carry out this mandate well and can continue to maintain good relations with the Police," said Ferdinand. According to the former Democrat Party politician, whoever becomes the TNI Commander must be able to lead the defense institution. Most importantly, said Ferdinand, must be loyal to the state.
"Loyal to the nation and state and loyal to the President as the Supreme Commander. In addition, we must be able to maintain good cooperation with the Police," he said.
