Ahead Of The PBNU Congress In Lampung, Supporters Of Said Aqil Siradj Claim Pockets Of Support For 389 Branches
JAKARTA - Said Aqil Siradj's support camp claims to have won the support of the majority of the NU Branch Management (PCNU) so that Saiq Aqil will return to lead PBNU in the next period.
"From the percentage of 64.7 percent, it is equivalent to 389 branches and 21 regional administrators who to this day have expressed their aspirations and support," said member of the Kiai Said Aqil Siradj Supporting Gathering Forum, Akhmad Muqowam during a press conference at the Cut Meutia Hotel, Jakarta, Antara. , Wednesday, November 3rd.
PBNU will hold the 34th Congress in Lampung in December to find out who will assume the next leadership role.
Besides Said Aqil, the brother of Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas who is also Khatib Aam PBNU, Yahya Cholil Staquf is said to be going forward in the contestation.
Akhmad said that PBNU still needed Said Aqil to continue his leadership towards the second century of NU. For them, Said Aqil Siradj was able to bring PBNU through all tests and challenges.
According to him, the steps, attitudes, and policies of NU under the leadership of Said Aqil are already on the best path.
"His leadership in the golden period ahead is very decisive for us. Because in this phase and momentum, internal and external strategic agendas, national and international, will be completed," said Akhmad.
Regarding efforts to strengthen the organization's management and database, PBNU has pioneered and started to implement a national data collection system for NU members through SispendaNU. PBNU has also applied the principle of sound treasury transparency, which is open if a public audit is required at any time.
"Facing the era of society 5.0, PBNU, under the leadership of Kiai Said, has also been and continues to prepare itself. Among other things, through strengthening universities," he said.
NU nationally has 274 universities under the auspices of the Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Institution (LPTNU). But this is not enough. Since 2014, through the Legal Entity of the NU Association, PBNU has created 23 Nahdlatul Ulama Universities (UNU) by focusing its output on three current issues, namely science, technology, and engineering.
"Together with Said Aqil Siroj, Nahdlatul Ulama will always be a balancing organization, both in national, social, economic, humanitarian, and political roles," he said.
