Asking For Travel Money From Parents Who Reported Child Abuse Cases, Police In West Aceh Examined

MEULABOH - Two police officers in West Aceh are undergoing Provos examination regarding the handling of a case of alleged sexual abuse, which was experienced by a child in Arongan Lambalek District.

"These two officers have been questioned at the Provos, including members of the Arongan Lambalek Police and a female police officer," said West Aceh Police Deputy Chief Commissioner Asa Putra as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 3.

Kompol Asa Putra explained that the investigation of the two police personnel was suspected to be related to the handling of a community report about a child being sexually abused in East Aceh.

According to him, the police officer, whose identity was not identified, was investigated for allegedly asking the victim's parents for Rp 2 million in travel expenses as transportation costs to East Aceh.

Meanwhile, the female police officer who was being investigated in this case, said Kompol Asa Putra, because the investigator was suspected of yelling at the victim of sexual harassment, so this issue came to the public surface.

Kompol Asa Putra emphasized that the police had fully accepted the aspirations expressed by the women, who rallied at the West Aceh Police Headquarters to demand an investigation into the alleged sexual harassment case.

"The aspiration has been received to demand the performance of our investigators in terms of harassment, the case has also been ongoing (investigation). It has been completely processed,” said Asa Putra.

He emphasized that the West Aceh Police will not hesitate to take action against individual members of the Police who are suspected of committing violations in their duty to serve the community.

"If later proven guilty, the two police officers could be subject to administrative sanctions or a code of ethics trial," said Commissioner of Police Asa Putra.
