Komnas HAM Immediately Announces Recommendations On Cases Of Alleged Sexual Harassment Experienced By KPI Employees

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) immediately announced findings and recommendations regarding allegations of sexual harassment and bullying experienced by employees of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), MS.

Komnas HAM commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara said the recommendation on the allegation would be issued this November, although he did not mention an exact date.

"We will release the results in the second week of November," Beka told reporters, Wednesday, November 3.

Komnas HAM reasoned that the results would only be released in the second week because until now it is still completing the process of requesting information. "Last Monday, we again asked for information from the head of the KPI secretariat who came with the legal team," said Beka.

"Last Tuesday, we dig up information about the psychological condition of MS from psychologists who have examined MS. Tomorrow, the plan is to ask for information from other psychologists," he added.

Furthermore, after the information request process is completed, his party will concentrate on analyzing all the materials they get. "Next week we will concentrate on writing analysis of findings, conclusions and recommendations," said Beka.

As previously reported, the case of sexual harassment and bullying that befell MS emerged after he wrote an open letter which went viral on social media on September 1.

In the open letter, MS admitted that he had been a victim of bullying since he worked at KPI in 2012. He even experienced sexual harassment by five of his co-workers in 2015 in the office.
