Fahri Hamzah Sneaks Hard At Today's House Of Representatives: Legislature Is Not Just A Workplace And For Basic Food

JAKARTA - Gelora Party politician Fahri Hamzah criticized the performance of the legislature for forgetting its supervisory function. That's why President Jokowi once complained about the weakness of the government being supervised.

In a meeting, the former PKS politician admitted that he had met with Jokowi. And the first thing that came out of Jokowi's mouth was a complaint about the lack of opposition in Senayan.

"How come the opposition is weak now, how come Senayan is silent, many ministers are not being monitored, what is happening?" Please think about the answer for yourself," Fahri tweeted on his Twitter account, Wednesday, November 3.

Fahri regretted that the legislature was deemed sluggish in the current period. Even though the legislature has attached all facilities for supervision and impunity, they have not been fully utilized.

The people still miss the DPR, which understands the importance of its supervisory duties. This task is far more important - said Fahri - than just a working visit here and there and for the distribution of basic necessities or rations from the executive which is channeled through the hands of the legislature.

Fahri, who is now outside parliament, said he was worried about this condition. Because the age of the executive government is still quite long.

"Once legislative oversight is weak, irregularities will certainly run rampant. Whose sin is this? This is a sin," he continued.

So, according to Fahri, there is nothing wrong with the assumption that the legislature is in collusion with the executive because too many pass by without adequate opposition. People are starting to not believe that the legislature can control the government because too much has just passed.

"I need to emphasize that the supervisory rights of legislators are very powerful. Because they are not only allowed to ask questions every day without fear of being punished like us, every day they can also submit further investigations to the state audit agency," he tweeted again.

"But what I regret now seems to be that the legislature as a supervisor or that means the opposition is less organized in its core supervisory work. They are more likely to be busy carrying out other tasks, especially social assistance! That's not the work of the opposition! That's wrong!" he said.
