The Old House Inhabited By ODGJ In Kauman Malang Collapses, One Person Gets The Ruins

MALANG - An old house in Kauman Village, Klojen District, Malang City, suddenly collapsed. The house made of wood and looks weathered is inhabited by two people with mental disorders (ODGJ).

Rizal, a local resident, said that one resident managed to get out. While one person was crushed by the rubble of the building.

"Her sister was able to run out of the house. She happened to be near the door, so when she knew she was going to fall, she immediately ran out," said Rizal, Wednesday, November 3.

One occupant was still in the house when it collapsed. Residents do not dare to enter because the building looks prone to collapse.

"Residents are afraid to help because the condition of the building is still prone to collapse. Finally we called the damkar, they know the handling technique, because we are afraid of collapse," he said.

A moment later the firefighters arrived. The occupants who were crushed by the rubble were rescued.

Another neighbor, Sofyan, said the house had been tilted since a year ago. But when it rains it never gets damaged.

"Previously, it had been tilted for a year, the fork had broken. When it rained, there was no sign of it falling, but it suddenly collapsed," he said.

"The part that collapsed was the living room, bedroom and back room," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Fire Department, Teguh Budi Wibowo, said that the cause of the collapse of the house was because the building was old.

"The victim has been rescued from the rubble and taken to the Malang City Social Service," he said separately.
