Almost! PPSU Officers Move Quickly To Save 11-Year-Old Boy Who Was Carried Away By The BKT River
JAKARTA – An 11-year-old boy who drowned in the East Flood Canal (BKT) was rescued by three officers for the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management (PPSU) Cipinang Muara.
The boy with the initials N, Tuesday, November 2, was enjoying playing in the water at the BKT river without using safety equipment such as a life jacket. Fortunately, thanks to the actions of 3 PPSU officers, N's life was saved.
The incident occurred at around 15.00 WIB, N and his friends were playing in the river BKT stream. Unfortunately, while joking with his three colleagues, N fell into the BKT river.
"It was told to go up by the residents because it was raining hard. But they refused to go up and even joked. They finally fell," said Joko, a PPSU officer who saved the life of an 11-year-old boy, in East Jakarta, Wednesday, November 3.
Victim N could not swim, so his body was swept away by the current of the BKT. N shouted for help so that it attracted the attention of local residents, and the PPSU officer who happened to be cleaning the canal.
"Please, please. Bang, that's a friend of mine who was carried away by the current. I ran downstairs and still saw his hair, I burst out to help him," he said.
The rescue was dramatic. The reason is, Joko was pushed by the current so that Joko lost his victim. However, Joko's feet accidentally while swimming touched the victim's body.
"As soon as I felt it was someone I picked up, but because of the swift water, I asked a friend to help lift the victim up," he said.
After being successfully removed, N was then taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
"He helped us to get the water out, it didn't take long for the water that came in to come out and all of them were taken to the hospital," he said.
