Police Reward For Asking For A Sack Of Onions: From Polantas Now Headquarters Servant

JAKARTA - A traffic police officer (polantas), Aipda PDH, has received a temporary reward or sanction for asking the truck driver for a sack of onions in exchange for not paying a ticket. The reward received is being transferred to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters Service (Yanma).

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the temporary sanction was given while waiting for the results of further investigations.

"Immediately revoked, withdrawn, transferred to Polda Metro Jaya as Yanma NCO for the time being," Yusri told reporters, Tuesday, November 2.

Even then the witness was given because his actions were considered to have tarnished the Polri institution. Where, in the video uploaded to the Twitter account @Pasifisstate, Aipda PDH does not carry out a fine which is its obligation when the driver violates the rules.

Currently, Aipda PDH is also under investigation by the Propam Polda Metro Jaya. This examination is to explore the motive behind the action. This is because until now it has not been revealed what made the truck driver ask for a sack of onions.

"That's (the reason) we are still investigating," said Yusri.

Chronology of Asking Onions

On the other hand, Yusri also explained the chronology obtained from the results of the preliminary examination. It all started when Aipda PDH, who is a member of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, went on patrol, on November 1.

Then, while on Jalan P2, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Aipda PDH saw a truck which he said had committed a violation. So the truck was stopped.

"The truck was from Sumatra (towards) Serang, BG plated, then stopped and checked the completeness of the documents from the truck driver," said Yusri

Upon inspection, there was indeed a violation. Because, the truck driver could not show the completeness of the documents related to the vehicle or luggage.

"Indeed, the driver didn't bring any papers," Yusri said briefly
