The South Sumatra Provincial Government Supports The Drag Circuit Track Project At Jakabaring Sport City Palembang
PALEMBANG - The Provincial Government of South Sumatra supports the wishes of the South Sumatra Dragster Association (IDSS) which plans to build a "drag" circuit at the Jakabaring Sport City Sports complex, Palembang.
Deputy Governor of South Sumatra Mawardi Yahya said the support was to maintain the existence of Jakabaring Sport City as an arena for various sports competitions.
"We support by giving permission for the construction of this 'drag' track. Please use the existing land in JSC," Mawardi said when receiving IDSS administrators in Palembang, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.
Not only that, Mawardi also requested that the IDSS management immediately formulate the plan together with the sponsors who will assist in the construction of the "drag" track.
“Immediately formulate and form cooperation with JSC. In principle, we as JSC shareholders agree to it,” said Mawardi.
With this circuit, South Sumatra becomes a place for "dragsters", both for training and competitions.
According to Mawardi, basically, JSC is intended as a sports venue, even more so.
With the construction of the circuit, it is certain that JSC will continue to develop so that every sporting event is centered there.
Meanwhile, IDSS Advisor Yusantio Sandi said that the plan to build the "drag" circuit was carried out to accommodate the "dragsters" who had been practicing and competing wildly on the road so far.
It is also considered to be disturbing the traffic of the community.
"The enthusiasm of the public, especially the youth for this 'drag' is very high. Therefore, this circuit is expected to be able to localize this 'dragster' hobby," said Yusantio.
He also revealed that his party had collaborated with several sponsors for the circuit construction scheme.
"There is a sponsor for the construction scheme. The sponsor will cooperate with JSC. Hopefully this development will be realized soon," Yusantio hoped.
