The Safety Of Basic Needs In West Java Ahead Of Nataru
JAKARTA - The Governor of West Java (West Java) M Ridwan Kamil accompanied the Indonesian Minister of Trade (Mendag) Agus Suparmanto to review the condition of the price of people's basic needs (kepokmas) at Kosambi Market, Bandung City, Friday, December 20.
According to Emil, the supply of basic necessities for people in West Java ahead of Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020 is safe, but there are a number of community groups that have experienced an increase in prices, one of which is eggs.
To maintain price stability and availability of community groups, Governor Emil will coordinate with various related parties. In addition, he said, his party is ready to carry out market operations with Bulog in the event of a spike in price increases.
"The supply is generally stable, just later, as the Minister of Trade said, we will coordinate with associations to ensure supplies run well," Emil said.
He added that Monday he also had a coordination meeting with Bulog at Gedung Sate. The agenda ensures stable prices. "And it turns out that if there is a price hike in market operations, West Java Bulog will also prepare it," he added.
Emil said the price increases for several community groups occurred due to high demand, especially ahead of religious holidays and New Year celebrations. However, he confirmed that the price increase was still at a reasonable stage.
"And indeed I was interviewing the egg trader in particular, because at Christmas and New Year many people make cakes, so the need is very high. But in general, the public should not worry, the presence of the Minister of Trade this time to Bandung is to ensure that price stability is still within tolerance in markets in West Java, "he said.
Meanwhile, Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto also stated that a number of community groups had increased prices due to high demand and weather factors.
"The increase was in onions, eggs, and chicken meat, which moved up a bit. It is precisely because of Christmas and New Year that the national religious holidays often do increase slightly, because according to the demand and the situation and conditions, especially now, the weather is a bit affecting as well, "he said.
According to Agus, the Ministry of Trade will coordinate with the association of PKM distributors as an anticipatory step.
“I will contact and coordinate with suppliers and distributor associations to adjust supplies, especially ahead of Christmas and New Year. Especially in eggs, chicken and onions there is a slight rise. So, we will anticipate the next few days, "he added.
Agus also ensured that the supply of community groups was safe. To meet the people's needs at Christmas and New Year, his party will increase the supply of basic needs for the community.
"For sufficient supply, we will indeed add. We will contact several associations and suppliers, distributors as well as from several sources. So, later we will adjust and increase the supply in order to stabilize prices ahead of Christmas and New Year, "said the Trade Minister.
