MADIUN - The Madiun Resort Police (Polres) team, East Java, arrested the perpetrators of violent motorcycle thefts that injured the victims with sharp weapons.
Madiun Police Chief AKBP Jury Leonard Siahaan said the perpetrator was SS (42) a resident of Jombang Regency who worked as a wild bird hunter.
The perpetrator was arrested by the police on October 29 in Bojonegoro with evidence of a stolen motorbike.
"The modus operandi of the case is that the perpetrator, who did not know the victim, chatted with the motorcycle owner on the edge of a rice field who was sitting alone in the Mejayan District, Madiun Regency on October 18. Suddenly, when the victim was looking at his cellphone, the perpetrator hit the back of the victim's neck with the sickle algae he had until he fell. Not only that, the perpetrator also injured the victim's neck with a sickle and after that took away the victim's motorbike and cellphone," said AKBP Jury quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.
The victim who was injured and fell down at the scene, was finally helped by local residents who wanted to see the rice fields. Now the victim is still undergoing treatment at the Caruban Hospital, Madiun Regency.
"For the violent theft of the motorbike, the victim then reported it to the police for further legal action," he said.
The police who received the report immediately started a search. The perpetrator was arrested in the Bojonegoro Regency area when he was about to sell the stolen motorbike.
From that case, the police secured a number of evidences, including one unit of a Honda Supra X-125 motorcycle with Police Number AE-4992-IF, a green Realme C11 brand cellphone, a sickle, and a jamper jacket that reads "greenlight".
For his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 365 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for nine years.
