Now All Members Of The US House Of Representatives Must Wear Masks
JAKARTA - Chairman of the United States (AS) DPR Nancy Pelosi requires all members and staff of the DPR to wear masks. The statement came after Republican lawmaker Louie Gohmert, who refused to wear a mask, tested positive for COVID-19.
As a result, three Republican colleagues went into self-quarantine because they had met Gohmer. Pelosi later said that not wearing a mask was a serious offense. In fact, this has been discussed by the DPR Honorary Court.
"We expect all members and staff to comply with these requirements as a sign of respect for the health, safety and welfare of others present in the area around the capitol," Pelosi was quoted as saying by CNA, Thursday, July 30.
"The DPR Honorary Court will view the act of not wearing a mask as a serious violation of courtesy," he added.
In line with Pelosi, the DPR Honorary Court also issued an announcement requiring all members and staff in the DPR to wear masks. "Everyone who enters the building must wear a face mask. And they can take off their masks while eating, drinking or smoking."
Not only that. Pelosi also provided relief by making the workspace an area where masks were not required. Nevertheless, Pelosi appealed to DPR members and staff not to have a headache if they forgot to bring a mask. This is because masks will be available at every entrance to the DPR.
Pelosi said he had discussed this with doctors at the Capitol to find out how safe masks were to be used inside the DPR Building. So far the US has confirmed 4,339,997 cases of COVID-19 transmission. Among them, 148,866 cases died.
