JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of the potential for moderate to heavy rain on the western slopes, eastern slopes, and mountains in North Sumatra. The rain has the potential to cause flooding.

"The rain with moderate to heavy intensity can potentially cause landslides and floods," said Medan BBMKG forecaster Martha R. Manurung, Wednesday, October 20.

In general, she mentioned that the weather conditions in North Sumatra during the day were cloudy with the potential for light to heavy rain in Nias Islands, Langkat, North Tapanuli, Mandailing Natal, Simalungun, Humbang Hasundutan, Samosir, and surrounding areas, quoted from Antara.

In the afternoon and evening, there is the potential for moderate to heavy rain in Nias Islands, Medan, Langkat, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Asahan, Labuhan Batu Utara, Labuhan Batu, Mandailing Natal, North Tapanuli, Samosir, Humbang Hasundutan, Dairi, Karo, Simalungun, Toba, and its surroundings.

Cloudy in the morning, potentially up to light rain in areas in Labura, Labuhanbatu, Labusel, Asahan, Coal, Serdang Bedagai, Deli Serdang, Langkat, Coal, Medan and surrounding areas.

The air temperature is 24.0-31.0 degrees Celsius, humidity is 65-99 percent, the wind blows from the northwest-southeast at a speed of 10-30 km/hour, explained Martha R. Manurung.
