National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said a mother who provided sachet milk coffee to her baby had been visited by the police for further action and was given the necessary assistance.

"Incidentally, our members saw it and it went viral, that a baby was given sachet milk coffee. Maybe it was because of the desire of his parents to give milk," said the National Police Chief when met by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 25.

Sigit said that when met by the police, the parents of the baby felt confused. However, after being given an explanation related to the viral case, parents can understand and have been given assistance that can increase the child's nutrition.

Through this incident, Sigit asked all his staff in the region to really oversee the acceleration of the maximum and thorough reduction in stunting rates.

Each line is asked to inspect the area, so that the Police can jump in to distribute the assistance needed by the community such as additional food for mothers who are entering their pregnancy period or children during their growth period.

Sigit added that the National Police are also willing to help provide services at Polri hospitals in each region to overcome the nutrition examination of these children.

"We also have experience treating COVID-19 patients with Halodoc facilities at that time. I ask that it can also be applied in helping the process of pursuing the target of reducing stunting. I think we can do this using the same method and hopefully we can help the government program," said Sigit.

Previously, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also highlighted the case and emphasized the importance of educating the public to prevent similar actions from happening again.

The President asked each party to be careful with the case of giving milk coffee to babies. The whole community needs to receive counseling about the right parenting pattern.

Jokowi said the condition of the internal organs such as the kidneys, the baby's heart is not strong. Therefore, babies should not be given milk coffee.

The President also mentioned the police who visited the figure of the mother who gave the coffee milk. According to President Jokowi, BKKBN and Posyandu cadres should have visited the mother for the first time to provide counseling.

"But, the correct one should have been a Posyandu cadre, a cadre from the BKKBN who came there. Because the speed with which the National Police Chief might be, because the reaction from the National Police Chief was fast, it came faster than the cadres," said President Jokowi.

Previously, through the TikTok application, there was a video of a baby being given sachet milk coffee by his mother. The mother thinks that milk coffee actually contains milk, compared to a sweet thickness.
