JAKARTA - Qualcomm's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Cristiano Amon said that the chip made by his company will be the ticket to the Metaverse.

Amon said while speaking to investors yesterday, who laid out some of the company's plans for 5G and the Internet of Things. Amon stated that Qualcomm will dominate chips for what he calls the “IoT Next,” the new frontiers of the Internet of Things, including the Metaverse.

"If you're going to spend any time on the Metaverse, Snapdragon will be your ticket," says Amon.

The majority of Metaverse-style devices like the Facebook Oculus Quest do adopt Snapdragon, and are the first to run on the Snapdragon XR2 platform.

The device is fully VR and AR equipped with support for multiple cameras and technologies such as foveated rendering. As a result, users can experience sharper, more realistic graphics.

Citing ZDNet, Wednesday, November 17th, therefore, Amon believes that the entire Snapdragon XR category, including AR and VR can outweigh mobile phones. In fact, this was previously revealed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg when introducing Metaverse some time ago, that they have been working together on this project with Qualcomm for many years.

Besides Metaverse, Amon also discussed IoT Next. One of those consumer aspects is the "transformation" of PCs. The goal, where PCs will become more like mobile phones. Based on the constant need for cloud connectivity to run video games and to collaborate.

"We are very well positioned to be the provider of choice for PCs for the inevitable transition to ARM," said Amon.

It also refers to Qualcomm's ARM-based CPUs that compete with CPUs from Intel and AMD. It is known, Qualcomm is currently working on the next generation CPU for Snapdragon and it will appear in the coming months.
