BSSN Forms CSIRT Team To Prevent Cyber Attacks During Election Period

JAKARTA - The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) has formed a Special Task Force (Satgas) to oversee and maintain the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) in cyberspace.

"BSSN has formed an election task force that has been working since the beginning of the year. Its duties are of course related to cybersecurity and passwords, besides that it forms an IT assessment with KPU, Bawaslu, and other stakeholders," said BSSN spokesman Ariandi Putra, to the media crew after the 2023 Micro Security Day Ingram event, on Tuesday, October 24.

In addition, Andi also said that BSSN had deployed a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) team, which was expected to prevent or mitigate cyber attacks during the election period.

"We divide it into three Scopes, namely before the election, during the election and after the election. During this election, it means during the election," he explained further.

So according to him, when an unusual traffic pattern (traffic anomalies) is detected by CSIRT in the KPU's computer system, the team will move to collect evidence, and will eventually be submitted to the KPU for follow-up.

"In the form of misinformation and so on, we are also working with other ministries, and also in the context of law enforcement we are also working with the Police and also the TNI, of course," he said.

The findings to be reported include recommendations given by BSSN. One form of recommendation is in the form of Information Technology Security Assessment (ITSA) so that the KPU's electronic system can continue to run well.
