JAKARTA - Google is reportedly working on a feature to read articles accessed in Chrome, the new option is seen in Chrome Canary.
According to user X @Leopeva64, the feature dubbed text-to-speech can be accessed when the article opens in the desktop version of Reading Mode on Chrome Canary.
When users turn to Read Mode, Google Chrome will add a small Turn button at the top of the article, and they can click it for the browser to read the article loud.
Chrome for desktop will also have the option to "read aloud" articles, the initial implementation of this feature (in the Canary version) is pretty basic but it works, in this link you can see a video with the feature in action:https://t.co/UMAzrWKaWo.https://t.co/Wha3AzI9gf pic.twitter.com/z8KMvtUsLI

A video showing how the feature was also shared by @Leopeva64 on Reddit. When VOI saw it, the voice of the man reading the article appeared, but it sounded like a robot, not naturally like it belonged to a human voice.
Google seems to have to learn from its competitors, Microsoft Edge, which already offers the text-to-speech feature in Immersive View for websites.
It is not known for sure when this feature will be launched to the public soon, as it looks newly tested in Chrome Canary, a testing platform for the company's experimental features, as quoted from Android Police, Saturday, August 26.
