JAKARTA - YouTube should be more vigilant, as Twitch has just launched the Hype Chat, where content creators can earn additional income if their fans use this feature.

Chat hype is actually a new and additional way for fans to stand out more in reaching creators. At the same time, creators will also get a share of the income from every Hype Chat purchase.

Fans can immediately buy messages embedded at the top of the chat on the creator channel they like.

"In our opinion, the Hype Chat will work best on channels that display fast chats. That's why when it launches, it's only available to Partners. We're working on plans to roll it out more widely," Twitch said in its official blog, quoted Friday, June 23.

They can send chat messages at prices ranging from USD 1 to 500 (IDR 15 thousand to IDR 7 million). Creators can set a minimum price of up to USD 100 (IDR 1.4 million), whenever they want.

In addition, fans can buy the Hype Chat directly in their local currency, no need for Bit. The revenue sharing is 70 per 30 after deducting payment fees on the web.

Duration, number of characters, and visual design pins will depend on how much money fans spend.

Meanwhile, a higher-value Hype Chat will be at the top of the chat longer, the number of characters will also be widely available and have a more prominent design.

The Chat hype is available along with existing monetization features such as Bits, Subs, and Gift Subs. Regarding security, Twitch says fans will not be able to send messages containing prohibited words or phrases, including on all sites and at the channel level by creators.

The Chat Hype message from users who are time out or banned will be immediately removed from the queue. The message is also scanned by AutoMod, and fans will not be able to complete the purchase of their Chat Hype if it is tagged by AutoMod.

Creators and AutoMods are also given the ability to remove Hype Chat messages that are considered dangerous or disliked. They will also get a live Chat Type warning via Alerts by Twitch.
