JAKARTA - Amazon is battling a fake review service provider on its website, by choosing to use Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This method, said Amazon, is also useful for identifying unoriginal comments. Jeff Bezos' company is actually already using a machine learning model.
Usually used to detect risks such as links to other accounts, entry activity, review history, and other indications of unusual behavior leading to fake reviews.
But now, Amazon has decided to invest further in advanced technology to help it detect fraudulent behavior.
With such a method, Amazon admits it can effectively block more than 200 million alleged fake reviews from its stores by 2022.
"We will continue to build sophisticated tools that protect our customers, our sales partners, and our stores from bad actors who are trying to make a profit by spreading fake reviews globally," Amazon said.
The fake review service providers have recently been a big problem for their shopping sites, as they can mislead customers, as quoted by The Independent, Friday, June 16.
They usually use third-party platforms, including social media and encrypted messaging services, to buy, sell, and host fake reviews.
So far, Amazon has taken legal action against more than 90 bad actors around the world who facilitate fake reviews and sued more than 10,000 Facebook group administrators who are trying to provide fake reviews.
Amazon also reported more than 23,000 abusive social media groups, with more than 46 million members and followers, facilitating fake reviews in 2022.
Furthermore, Amazon also said the service provider was a global problem and asked the private sector, consumer groups, and the government to work together to stop them.
