YouTuber DidYouKnowGaming Restores Access To His Channel After Hacking

JAKARTA - A well-known YouTuber, DidYouKnowGaming, managed to regain access to his YouTube channel which was previously hacked by an anonymous bad actor to promote XRP crypto scams.

While hacking YouTube channels to promote crypto scams has become a frequently used method of targeting less alert investors, the number of creators on the platform reporting the hack is increasing.

Recently, DidYouKnowGaming - a YouTuber with 2.4 million subscribers - warned his Twitter followers about the hacking attack he experienced. After successfully gaining access to the account, the hacker changed the profile image and cover of the YouTuber to the Ripple logo, as seen in the image.

YouTube's swift action prevents greater losses by preventing XRP hackers from interacting with the channel's customers. Recently, one of YouTube's largest creators,▁Utama Tech Tips, also reported losing access to its channels.

While the way YouTube channel hacking is still a mystery, YouTuber victims can always recover deleted accounts and videos, if any. The threat to crypto investors from such hacking attacks is very important, given the emergence of deepfakes, which is fake videos produced by artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

Hackers often make deepfakes from Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other entrepreneurs to mislead crypto investors. Concerns are growing as Chinese tech giant Tencent launches a new deepfake maker tool, allowing users to emulate anyone for a price of 1,000 yuan (IDR 2.1 million). As Cointelegraph reports, the service will be used by Tencent to broadcast infomercial live for Chinese demographics.
