The digitalization trend in Indonesia is currently showing an increase. This is evidenced by the 2023 East Ventures - Digital Competitive Index (EV-DCI) research report, which shows that Indonesia's EV-DCI score has now increased to 38.5 from the previous only 35.2 in 2022.

In accordance with the theme carried out, namely "Digital justice for all Indonesian people", Director of Katadata Insight Center, Adek Media Roza said there are at least four steps that need to be taken to achieve digital justice in Indonesia.

"There are four things that need to be done. First, equitable digitalization, second, strengthening business fundamentals, third, increasing collaboration, and finally implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)," said Adek at the EV-DCI 2023 launch event on Wednesday, April 5 in Jakarta.

Agreeing with what Adek, Radju Munusamy, Partner and Next Level Leader of PwC Indonesia also said that collaboration from all stakeholders is needed to realize digital justice.

"Collaboration forms can be directed at efforts to equalize digitalization, strengthen business fundamentals, and implement sustainability strategies through the ESG. This collective step is expected to increase efficiency in forming value add that supports the equitable distribution of the digital economy which leads to an overall increase in the national economy," said Radju further.

Furthermore, Radju also stated that this digital equitable distribution is not only about the availability of the network, but also the use of access by all Indonesian people.

"If you want to be evenly (digitalized), it's not just available access, and it's affordable. If access is available but not used, now because of that, people also need literacy (access and access utilization)," he concluded.

However, Willson Weather, Co-Founder and Managing Partner East Ventures also added, Indonesia still has a lot of 'homework' and challenges that must be completed to achieve that goal.

There are still many homeworks' and challenges that must be resolved by all stakeholders. We will continue to support equitable digital competitiveness in Indonesia and participate in developing Indonesia's digital economy through our various investments and initiatives or programs," he added.
