JAKARTA - On Wednesday, April 5, East Ventures, an open venture capital company in all sectors, together with the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and PwC Indonesia launched the 2023 Digital Competitiveness Index (EV-DCI), which became the 4th edition since it was first launched in 2020.

This EV-DCI 2023 research report is a report featuring measurements of Indonesia's digital competitiveness with the theme Digital justice for all Indonesian people," which was formed from three sub-indexes, nine pillars, and 50 indicators.

The formation sub-indexes are input, output, and support, with human resource-forming pillars, use of information and communication technology (ICT), ICT expenditure, economy, entrepreneurship and productivity, employment, infrastructure, finance, and regulation and local government capacity.

EV-DCI 2023 presents digital competitiveness data in 38 provinces and 157 cities/regencies in Indonesia. According to the report, digital competitiveness in regions in Indonesia continues to show a positive trend.

This is evidenced by the EV-DCI 2023 score which has increased by 38.5 compared to the previous year, which was 35.2 (2022) and two years earlier, namely 32.1 (2021).

The highest EV-DCI 2023 score is still held by DKI Jakarta, with a score of 76.6. Meanwhile, in second and third positions occupied by West Java and DI Yogyakarta with a score of 62.2 and 54.2.

In addition, Central Java again entered the top 10 in 6th place with an EV-DCI score of 48.1. Meanwhile, North Sumatra also entered the top 10 with an increase in the score of 5.7.

Several provinces outside Java have also experienced a fairly good increase in digital competitiveness. For example, Jambi, which experienced the highest increase in EV-DCI 2023 ranking compared to the previous year, which was from rank 30 in the previous year to 14.

Jambi experienced an increase in the score of 8.0 to 39.8. The Bangka Belitung Islands and West Kalimantan also showed a significant increase in digital competitiveness; each experienced an increase of 12 rankings.

On the other hand, Central Papua as a new province in Indonesia as a result of the expansion of Papua and West Papua, became the area with the lowest EV-DCI score, with 23.3 for EV-DCI 2023.
