Kominfo Immediately Follow Up Transition Between BRTI And BPT

JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate is following up on the dissolution of the Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Body (BRTI) and the Telecommunications Advisory Agency (BPT). Henceforth, the two regulatory bodies will be under the auspices of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo).

"With the dissolution of the BRTI, the duties, functions and authorities will be transferred to the Ministry of Communication and Information. Thus the Regulatory Body is attached to the functions of the Ministry of Communication and Information," said Johnny, Monday, November 30.

He explained that downsizing was carried out to institutions whose tasks were overlapping. So, it is expected to create an efficient government system.

Johnny also revealed that the dissolution of BRTI did not violate internationally. "Because in Indonesia there is still a Regulatory Body which is held by the State, in this case the Ministry of Communication and Information."

"As a regulator, the government will actually be independent of the industry, uphold transparency and accountability according to laws," he added.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Communication and Information is coordinating to follow up on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No 12 of 2020. In which the transfer of tasks and authorities managed by BRTI and BPT will be carried out under the auspices of Kominfo.

"The transfer will be completed within one year from the promulgation of Presidential Regulation Number 112 of 2020," said the spokesman for the Ministry of Communication and Information, Dedy Permadi.

The transfer of these functions will also be coordinated by the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform by involving elements of the Ministry of Finance, the State Civil Service Agency, the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency, the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia and / or related ministries / institutions.

Previously it was reported that the government decided to dissolve 10 non-structural state institutions of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 112 of 2020. Apart from BRTI and BPT, others such as the Surabaya-Madura Regional Development Agency, National Research Council, Food Security Council, Standardization Body and National Sports Accreditation, The Indonesian Hajj Supervisory Commission, the National Industrial Economy Committee, the National Commission for Seniors, and the Indonesian Professional Sports Agency.
