'Drakor' Shin Tae-yong Versus The Hotter PSSI

JAKARTA - The chatter of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, to the South Korean media has a long tail. Like a Korean drama (drakor), the relationship between Shin Tae-yong and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is reportedly heating up.

This was triggered by Shin's comments, which seemed to be cornering PSSI. He said PSSI changed its management too often. In addition, the former Korean national team coach seemed to have no support from PSSI.

In the interview, Shin asked PSSI to focus on football. He also hopes that he can go hand in hand with PSSI in bringing the Indonesian national team to excel.

He also quipped Indra Sjafri's election as PSSI's Technical Director. He questioned how Indra was appointed Director of the PSSI after leaving his job.

Not responded by PSSI

PSSI's babbling was reluctant to comment on Shin. Through the Acting Secretary General (Plt Sekjen), Yunus Nusi, PSSI wanted to hear comments directly from the coach before giving a response.

However, PSSI will still learn the truth of the 51-year-old man's statement. They have also formed a team for this task.

In contrast to PSSI, Indra Sjafri spoke about Shin's oblique comments about himself. He denied leaving his duties as assistant coach of the Indonesian national team.

The former Bali United coach admits that he always accompanies the Indonesian national team every second. He also participated in all activities and always gave encouragement to all players.

Regarding his departure from the airport without saying goodbye, Indra also had an explanation. He claimed to have asked permission from the Indonesian national team staff to first leave the team due to personal matters.

When he heard that Shin was angry about the incident, Indra had already apologized directly. However, Indra said that Shin actually asked him to leave the meeting room.

Indra revealed the reason why he needed to explain the real issue. He wanted the public to complete the years before determining an opinion. He didn't want to find out who was right or wrong.

Now Shin Tae-yong's fate is at the end of the tanjuk. The news of the threat of dismissal also began to surface. PSSI seems unable to tolerate the coach's attitude.

The head of the Indonesian National Team's Task Force (Satgas), Syarif Bastaman, admitted that he would evaluate Shin if he did not come to Indonesia. According to him, Shin was under contract with PSSI. The possibility arises to terminate the coach's contract for not fulfilling obligations.

"There were three months he was absent, although in two months there were logical reasons," said Syarif.

However, PSSI has no plans to do so. According to Yunus Yuni, that was just a measure of anticipation. In fact, according to him, the problems with Shin had subsided after the two parties had a virtual meeting without media.

However, PSSI has prepared several alternative trainers if Shin Tae-yong does not come to Indonesia. There are names like Indra Sjafri, Fakhri Husaini and Bima Sakti who are ready to be relied on to be coaches of the Indonesian national team.
