JAKARTA The 2025 Proliga volleyball competition which will take place at the beginning of this year will present a total of 90 matches. There are 12 teams participating in this prestigious event.

Chairman of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI), Imam Sudjarwo, ensured that currently all match venues were ready to hold competitions.

"Essentially, everything is ready, it's just a matter of hope that the implementation will run well and smoothly," said Imam at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Proliga 2025 will be held in 10 major cities in Indonesia, namely Bandung, Pontianak, Kediri, Malang, Surabaya, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Palembang, and Gresik.

Indonesia's highest volleyball league will start on January 3, 2025 to May 11, 2024. In that period there was a five-week gap due to the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

The 2025 Proliga participants consisted of seven women's teams and five men's teams. This number is shrinking when compared to the 2024 season which was completed in July 2024.

"On this occasion, I also thank the men's and women's teams who have participated so far and in 2025," said Imam.

The women's team participants consisted of Jakarta Electric PLN, Jakarta Popsivo Polwan, Jakarta Pertamina Energi, Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia, Bandung Bjb Tandamata, Jakarta Livin Mandiri, and Yogya Falcons.

The defending champion of Jakarta BIN, whose 2024 season was strengthened by Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, was confirmed to be absent. The team did not renew their contract.

On the other hand, the men's team lost Kudus Sukun Badak, Jakarta BIN, and Jakarta Pertamina Pertamax. In the 2025 season, the men's category has shrunk to only five teams.

One of them who will be a contestant in the 2025 edition is Surabaya Samator. This team again enlivened the competition after being absent for one season.

Surabaya Samator will be accompanied by Jakarta LavAni Transmart, defending champion Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, Palembang Bank SumselBabel, and Garuda Jaya.

The 2025 Proliga will consist of 62 matches in Rounds I and II, 24 matches in Final Four, and the Grand Final round will have four matches.
