JAKARTA - Former Spanish national team player, Joan Capdevila, assesses Jordi Amat as a player who has extraordinary experience. He said the experience would have a positive impact on the Indonesian national team.

Capdevila admitted that he did not really know the figure of Jordi Amat. The reason is, he has never played with the naturalized Indonesian national team player during his Espanyol uniform, both at the academy and seniors.

However, the player who helped the Spanish national team win Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup believes Jordi Amat can give more value to the Garuda Squad.

"Jordi is a lot younger than me. Never met in the academy and did not meet in the first team. However, Jordi Amat has experience received from Europe, from Spain, from Espanyol," Capdevila said.

"I believe Jordi can provide more experience and value to the national team," he added, as reported by Antara.

Jordi Amat has had a lot of experience playing in Europe for more than a decade. He defended well-known clubs such as RCD Espanyol (Spain), Rayo Vallecano (Spain), Swansea City (England), Real Betis (Spain), and KAS Eupen (Belgium).

He then underwent the naturalization process and debuted with the Indonesian national team in the 2022 AFF Cup against Cambodia. The player is recorded to have bagged eight caps with one goal.

Capdevila is also proud to see Jordi Amat, who is one of the students of Espanyol's youth team, the club that also raised his name, can be useful for Indonesian football.

"And Spain is very happy with the existence of one player like Jordi Amat playing for the Indonesian national team. Jordi Amat, is very happy that one of the players from the young academy (Espanyol) is playing here, it's amazing," said the former 45-year-old footballer.
