JAKARTA The Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong ensured that his team continued to hunt for a big victory against Brunei Darussalam in the second leg of the first round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

Brunei will host the Indonesian national team at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, Begawan Series Bandar, Tuesday, October 17. The hosts need a miracle to qualify for the second round.

While the Garuda squad was a little more relaxed because it was already ahead with a margin of six goals. However, Shin still pushed his team to win big in this match.

"We are in good condition and fit. We will do our best for supporters in Indonesia or those in Brunei," said Shin Tae-yong as quoted by the federation website.

Indonesia has a very good record against Brunei. The victory in the middle of last week was Indonesia's fifth consecutive victory against the team nicknamed Tebuan.

Shin said that even though it was seeded, Indonesia still needed to be vigilant. He predicts that Brunei will definitely not want to lose in front of its own supporters.

"Brunei showed great effort in his first match in SUGBK, Indonesia, but frankly in reality we have a better team than Brunei," said the former South Korean national team coach.

"I hope Brunei can show even better effort in the second match that way, we will also adjust their game to play better and work even harder," he added.

The results of the first leg made Indonesia travel more relaxed. The reason is, the host must win with seven goals without reply or more to qualify.

The victory with the goal margin was somewhat impossible for Tebuan. On the other hand, Indonesia does not need to bother forcing it to hunt for goals because it conceded five goals without reply.
