Barcelona Beats Porto, Lamine Yamal Sets Record for Youngest Player in the Champions League

JAKARTA - Barcelona has to work hard before beating Porto. Playing an away match in Group H of the Champions League at the Stadon do Dragao, Thursday, October 5 early morning WIB, Barca narrowly won 1-0. In that match, Lamine Yamal set a record as the youngest player to start in the Champions League.

Barca coach Xavi Hernandez started Yamal from the first minute. At the age of 16 years 83 days, he also set a record as the youngest player. Previously he also confirmed as the youngest player to play for Barca since last season.

The next record was none other than when Yamal scored a goal while strengthening the Spanish national team in the European Cup qualifiers. He also became the youngest player to play for the national team and also scored a goal.

Yamal also showed mental maturity when facing Porto, who was not an easy opponent for Barca. Porto even showed their dominance over Barca, especially in the second half.

In that match, Barca received a heavy blow when mainstay striker Robert Lewandowski suffered an ankle injury due to a tackle from Porto defender David Carmo. The Polish national team striker was still able to continue playing even though he was finally pulled out in the middle of the first half.

His position was replaced by Torres, who actually decided the Blaugrana's victory. Yes, Torres scored the only goal in first half injury time.

The goal started from a mistake by midfielder Romario Baro who gave a pass to his partner behind. Only then was the ball snatched by Ilkay Gundogan who then gave it to Torres.

In the second half, Porto played more aggressively to equalize the score. They also mastered the game more. Unfortunately, the hosts' efforts to score a goal against Barca never produced results.

Barca themselves ended up playing with 10 men after Gavi received a second yellow card followed by a red card in injury time. However, the 1-0 score did not change until the end of the match.

This result makes Barca even stronger at the top of the standings with six points. In the previous match, they won 5-0 over Royal Antwerp.

Meanwhile, Porto, which has three points, is in second place. Porto's points tally is the same as Shakhtar Donetsk who beat Antwerp 3-2. However, Porto is superior on goal difference.
