Chelsea Finally Win, But Mudryk Injured

Chelsea won over Fulham in the West London Derby in the English Premier League, Tuesday, October 3 in the morning WIB. Winger Mykhailo Mudryk opened Chelsea's victory.

Appearing as a Chelsea star, winger Mykhailo Mudryk was injured while bringing the team to a 2-0 win over Fulham in the West London Derby at the English Premier League at Craven Cottage Stadium, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in the morning WIB.

Chelsea began to return to winning ways. After reaping a bad result that made manager Mauricio Pochettino wary, Chelsea finally won.

The three-point result at home to the opponent clearly raised the morale and confidence of the player who won the last time on August 26 when he defeated Luton Town 3-0. Victory is even more meaningful because it was won in a derby match against a neighboring team that was not easy to win.

This season, Chelsea have done two derbys. In the previous match, they were forced to surrender by West Ham United with a fairly landslide score of 3-0.

The victory over fellow West London teams immediately boosted the Blues position. Now, Chelsea are stuck in 11th place with eight points. The same as Fulham, but Chelsea are ahead on goal difference. Fulham himself is stuck in 13th place.

In that match, Pochettino made a surprise by backing up the mainstay striker Raheem Sterling. Instead, he lowered Armando Broja as the sole spearhead.

This is Broja's first time starting after recovering from a severe knee injury in December 2022. He is supported by Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez who occupies the position of attacking midfielder and Cole Palmer on the right flank.

The result was not disappointing. Mudryk successfully opened Chelsea's victory after beating goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the 19th minute. The goal started with Levi Colwill's cross which Mudryk finished. The goal ended the fasting of Ukrainian national team players for 23 games with Chelsea. Since coming to Stamford Bridge in early 2023, he has never scored a goal so he was under pressure. Moreover, the club spent a lot of money, namely 88 million pounds, when he brought it from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Pochettino himself asked fans to be patient because Mudryk needed time to adapt to English clubs and football.

"If you have a question about Mischa [Mudryk], for me he is a talented player. But we have to be patient with him because culturally and everything is different when players from other countries come here," said Pochettino.

Unfortunately, Mudryk could not continue the match due to injury. In the second half, he was replaced by Ian Maatsen. If he had to pull over due to injury, Mudryk's absence was clearly a blow to the club.

The 1-0 advantage did not last long. Only one minute later, Broja increased Chelsea's advantage. The score 2-0 for Chelsea lasted until the end of the match.
