Chelsea/Mutiara Win Bronze Rowing Hangzhou Asian Games

The Indonesian rower duo Chelsea Corputty and Mutiara Rahma Putri won the bronze medal in the lightweight women's double scills of Hangzhou Asian Games which took place at the Fuyang Water Sports Center, Sunday.

Chelsea and Mutiara were left in fourth place before overtaking Iran's Kimia Zarei/Nazanin Malaei in the last minute to occupy the podium with the winner of the number, namely the host pair Jiaqi Zhou/Xiuping Qiu. Uzbekistan finished second in the silver medal.

Launching Antara, this achievement is also the first medal for Indonesia in Hangzhou.

Rowing in the first lane, Chelsea and Mutiara reached a 500m point in fourth place when the Chinese pair Jiaqi Zhou/Xiuping Qiu took the lead.

At 1000m point, the host pair maintained their advantage while the Indonesian duo trailed 10.36 seconds in fourth place.

China maintained its lead at 1500m in front of the pair Uzbekistan and Iran, while Indonesia was overshadowed by Japan in the race for fourth place.

Zhou and Wiu finally finished first at 7:06.78 for the gold medal, while Indonesia managed to poke into third place with a record of 7:17.64 to win bronze.

The silver medal fell to Uzbekistan pair Luizkhon Islomova/Malika Tagmatova, who are 9.71 seconds adrift of today's best record.

The Hangzhou Asian Games rowing sport was held from September 20-25 with 14 gold medals for grabs.
